HOW TO MAINTAIN PENTECOSTAL FRESHNESS (CONT’D)

3.       RETAINING THE FRESHNESS OF THE PENTECOSTAL EXPERIENCE

          (Ps 1:1-3 / Josh 1:8 / John 15:5-7 / 2 Cor 13:5 / Gal 5:16 / Mk 16:33)

Many people have only short-lived testimonies of the Holy Spirit.

They have not discovered the marvels of the continuous refreshing power of the Spirit of God.

There is more to the dynamics of the Holy Spirit than short-lived baptismal experience.

Baptised believers should strive to dig deeper and enjoy the riches and the rich treasures of the Holy Spirit’s baptism.

We must be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.

It is much easier to lose Christian experiences than to get them.

We must put in effort to prepare and pray to receive, but we need no effort to lose them.

This is why a conscious effort must be made to keep the Pentecostal power and remain fresh in it.

HOW CAN WE RETAIN THE FRESHNESS OF PENTECOSTAL EXPERIENCE?

To retain the freshness of the Pentecostal experience, we must consider the following:

  • We must maintain a daily life of perseverance in prayer. (Lk 18:1 / Mk 1:35)
  • Do away with anything that can grieve the Holy Spirit. (Eph 4:30 / 1 Thess 5:19)
  • Abide in Christ always. (John 15:5-7)
  • Keep in touch with life challenging books and listen to messages of Spirit-filled preachers. (1 Tim 4:13)
  • Set quality time apart for daily devotional study of the Word of God. (1 Tim 2:15 / Joshua 1:8)
  • Reach out constantly to the perishing world. (Prov 11:30)
  • Be submissive and obedient to church leadership. (Eph 6:1 / 1 Pet 5:5-6)
  • Avoid jesting but let your words be few. (Eph 5:4 / Prov 10:19)
  • Be sober and vigilant at all times. (1 Pet 5:8)
  • Give ourselves wholly and totally to God Almighty. (Rom 12:1-2)

Finally, when believers humble themselves and consecrate their all, afresh to Christ Jesus and ask for His power, they will receive.

As we receive, we will become instrumental in converting more souls to God’s kingdom.

The freshness of the experience of the power of God will make us do mighty exploits regularly.

Many people in the Bible received His power including Moses, Joshua, Hannah, Esther, Deborah, Gideon, Samson, Stephen, Philip, Peter, Paul, etc.

They all did great exploits for the Lord. We can also do great exploits in our generation in Jesus’ name!

Remain blessed and rapturable,

Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
