The Word
WOW – 10 October 2023: Watch your Word and Tame your Tongue
| Oct 10, 2023
Beloved Saint of God Most High,
Calvary greetings to you and yours in the mighty name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
May the Lord God Almighty bless you with a wonderful and glorious Christ-centred week-end ahead in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:29-31).
Let no harmful language come from your mouth but only good words that are helpful in meeting the need.
Words that will benefit those who hear them.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. Do not offend, vex or sadden Him, by Whom we were sealed. The Holy Spirit marked and branded us as God’s own, secured for the day of redemption of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin.
Let all bitterness, indignation, wrath, passion, rage, bad temper, resentment, anger, animosity, quarrelling, brawling, clamour, contention, slander, evil-speaking, abusive behaviour and blasphemous language be banished from us, with all malice, spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind.
NARRATIVE OF A TRUE STORY
The story goes that Socrates was resting under a tree when one of his disciples approached him in a hurry and said, “Master, I want to tell you something. A friend of yours has been speaking ill of you.” Socrates interrupted, saying, “Wait a moment, have you passed this through the three filters before telling me?” “The three filters? I am not sure what you mean?” “The first filter is that of Truth. Are you completely sure that what you are going to tell me is true in all its aspects?”
“The truth is, I do not know. I simply heard someone say it.”
“Alright. Now, the second filter is that of Goodness. Is what you are going to tell me something good or beneficial?” “No, actually it is not.”
“Then we come to the last filter: Necessity. Is it necessary for you to tell me this about my friend?” “To be honest, it is not. It will only create prejudices and damage his reputation.”
“If it is not True, nor Good, nor Necessary, then it does not deserve to be heard.”
When it is from God, it comes with confirmation.
When it is not from God, it comes with hesitation, frustration and confusion.
Remember, the same material is used in building a Bridge and a Wall but both serve different purposes. A BRIDGE CONNECTS PEOPLE BUT WALLS SEPARATE THEM!
Therefore, use your words to connect and not to separate people.
Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
