“IMPORTANCE OF A CHRISTIAN’S MEEKNESS!”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“Seek Adonai, all you humble in the land, you who exercise his justice; seek righteousness, seek humility — you might be hidden on the day of Adonai’s anger.” (Zephaniah 2:3)
Seek the Lord, inquire of Him, and require Him as the foremost necessity of your life, all you humble of the land who have acted in compliance with His revealed will and have kept His commandments; seek righteousness, seek humility, inquire for them, require them as vital. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.
CHRISTIANS AND MEEKNESS
Meekness is the quality of being patient in the reception of injuries. It always stands opposed to malice and revenge.
Meekness is absolutely necessary in hearing and obeying the word of God.
Greek adjective “Praos” denotes gentle, mild, meek. Our Lord Jesus Christ used the words “meek” &“lowly” to describe the nature of His heart (Matthew 11:29).
Meekness has a deeper meaning. It is not just concerned only with our outward behaviour or our relationship to fellow men as little as in our natural disposition.
Rather, meekness is that temper of the spirit in which we accept the dealings of the Almighty God with us as good without disputing or resisting.
Meekness is directly linked with humility(Ephesians 4:2 / Colossians 3:12 / Zephaniah 3:12)
It is only a humble heart and a lowly heart that will not fight against God and His perfect will in any situation.
IMPORTANCE OF MEEKNESS
In the sermon of the mount, the Lord Jesus blessed the meek (Matthew 5:5).
Zechariah 9:9 gives one of the most specific Messianic prophecies in the entire Old Testament, which was fulfilled when Jesus the Messiah made a triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
Meekness must be an adornment of the Christian profession (1 Peter 3:4).
Meekness must be recognised in our discipleship (1 Thessalonians 2:7). In handling people, we must acknowledge meekness (2 Timothy 2:24-25).
Our meekness must be before God just as it must be in the face of men, even to the face of evil men. The common assumption or hypothesis is that when a man is meek, it is because he cannot help himself or he has no guts, but that is not true.
Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God was meek and lowly in the heart even though He had all resources within His power and command.
Therefore, meekness is actually a balance whereby one is neither elated nor cast down because such a one is not occupied with self at all. Praise the Lord!
All of you the meek, shall inherit the earth in Jesus mighty name, Amen!
Somebody shout, “PRAISE THE LORD!”
Shalom and good morning.
