“PRAYER OF IMPORTUNITY”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“On hearing this answer, I sat down and wept; I mourned for several days, fasting and praying before the God of heaven. I said, ‘Please, Adonai! God of heaven! You great and fearsome God, who keeps His covenant and extends grace to those who love him and observe his mitzvot!” (Nehemiah 1:4-5)
When I heard this, I sat down and wept and mourned for days and fasted and prayed constantly before the God of heaven, And I said, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, Who keeps covenant, loving-kindness, and mercy for those who love Him and keep His commandments.
PRAYER OF IMPORTUNITY
Look at what the Bible says in Luke 18:1-8 about the widow who went to the judge asking for protection and justice.
The judge who did not do anything for a while said to himself, “Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”
vv. 7-8 says, “And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Luke 11:5-8 talks about another man who goes to his friend at midnight and asks for three loaves of bread.
V. 8 says, “Though he will not rise and give him because he is a friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.”
Importunity means shameless persistence and insistence.
If that widow and this man had such shameless persistence and insistence, and had their requests answered by man, how much more will your earnestness and perseverance obtain God’s answer?
He will answer because of His promises and love for you! Come now, put away your weariness and fainting in prayer.
THE LORD GOD IS READY TO ANSWER OUR PRAYER MORE THAN WE ARE READY TO PRAY!
Somebody shout, “PRAISE THE LORD!”
Shalom and good morning.
