Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

NON-CONFORMIST CHRISTIANS (CONT’D)

“Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him………”. (Mark 10:46-52)

Blind Bartimaeus wanted his eyesight back. He heard that Jesus was passing by, so he cried out with a loud voice, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” The public was outraged. How dare this old man shout aloud to disturb others! “Keep quiet! You old man,” cried the public. But blind Bartimaeus refused to conform or concur to the crowd around him. He needed a change in his blind situation; therefore, he chose not to conform.

Non-conformists do not let obstacles, difficulties or discouragement to stop them.
Non-conformists always press on until the end (Philippians 3:13-14).
Jesus healed blind Bartimaeus because of his non-conformist faith.

EXAMPLES OF NON-CONFORMIST CHRISTIANS

Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China wore Chinese clothes with a totally shaved hair just to identify with the people.
John Hyde, the great prayer warrior and missionary to Northern India was often times heard shouting, “Give me souls O’ God, or I die.”
Evan Roberts of the great Welsh revival saw himself as a special messenger of God to arouse the churches for their task of saving the nation.
John G. Lake, the great missionary to Africa declared, “You can fill my hand with germs and I will keep them under the microscope and see them die instantly.”
Charles Parham, known as the father of Pentecost, proclaimed that speaking in tongues was the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

May the Lord find us to be non-conformist Christians in Jesus’ name, Amen!
