Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

THE UNIQUENESS OF CHRIST JESUS

Jesus Christ is God spelling Himself out in a language that man can understand.
What we think of Christ influences our thinking and controls our actions. Jesus paid it all.
All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.

In the gospel of Matthew 16:13-17, Caesarea Philippi means the Caesarea of Philip.
The designation differentiates this Caesarea from other cities of the same name.
This is the only recorded journey Jesus took into this territory of Philip the tetrarch.
In verse 16, Peter answered that Jesus is the One who would fulfill the Messianic hope of the Old Testament.
Peter also confirmed that Jesus the Messiah was the Son of the living God.
There were many people who asked questions about Christ Jesus. They wondered about Him. They wanted to know who He was.
Some people followed Him, but not all of them were convinced about His personality.

7 CLASSES OF PEOPLE WHO FOLLOWED JESUS CHRIST

There were seven classes of people who followed Jesus and we believe that these seven classes of people still exist today in our contemporary time and generation.

Who Are These?

1) Curious People (Matthew 8:27)
They heard all of what Jesus did. The feeding of thousands, the healing of the multitudes, the delivering of those in bondage and all the miracles.
They were curious to know who Jesus was.

2) Critical People (Matthew 9:11-13 / 9:34)
These were the religious people – the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
They criticized almost everything He said and did. They also criticized the people He associated with.

3) Condemned People
These were condemned in their hearts because they were criminals in the society.
An example of this category of people was the thief on the cross.

4) Convicted People
These people knew that they were criminals and as such were looking up to God for forgiveness, peace of mind, salvation and the possibility of reconciliation with God.
They knew that they were sinners, and they had the burden of conviction of their sins upon them.
An example of this was the sinful woman who came to Jesus Christ, weeping at His feet.

5) Convinced People (John 3:2)
They knew that Jesus Christ was not ordinary but extraordinary.
His birth, life, utterances and actions were all extraordinary. He was just not like other people.
An example of this was Nicodemus who told Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a Teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” (John 3:2)

6) Converted People
This group of people realized that they were going astray.
They knew the sin and the selfishness in them and they came to Jesus in genuine repentance, believing on the Lord and following Him.
In fact, they had not only opened their hearts unto the Lord Jesus but had also opened their homes. Example of these are Mary, Martha, Lazarus and others.

7) Committed People
This group comprised of persons like Peter, James, John and all the disciples who became so committed that they followed Him everywhere He went.
In all of these categories of people, one thing was common; they all wanted to know who Jesus was.
They all had their levels of understanding of who Jesus was. Definitely, you and I fit into one of these classes.

Maybe you are the curious type who just wants to know about Jesus, or you are the critical type who does not want to know because you have made up your mind.
Perhaps, you feel condemned. You know you are doing wrong and you want a way through which you could be redirected in life so that you will follow the path of righteousness.
And you might be convicted in your heart, to the extent that you are asking “Who will take this burden from me?”
Perhaps you are convinced. You have learnt so much about Jesus and because of that you can be in the next group of converts.
Or you can say to yourself, “enough of the hard-hitting and heart-rending message.”

Be counseled to draw near to God today through Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, the only way to heaven.
May this message bring you to the point of an unselfish commitment to the Son of God, Jesus our Saviour.

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,

Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
