HOW TO REACH THE RICH FOR CHRIST (CONT’D)

CLASSIFICATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RICH
(Deuteronomy 8:10-14 / Matthew 19:20-24 / Luke 19:1-9)

The rich are generally of three classes:

The literate rich
The illiterate rich
The inherited rich

Characteristics Of Some Rich People

Some rich people think less of God. They forget God (Deuteronomy 8:10-18).
To some rich people the call to the narrow way seems unpleasant and unrealistic (Matthew 19:23).
They are pre-occupied with the affairs of this life on how to keep their riches secure and to get more wealth.
Hence, they are hardly interested to hear or listen to the gospel of salvation.

Some rich people are full of fears and insecurity.
They will always hedge their homes around with security gadgets and in most cases with diabolical means.

Some rich people are generally proud, high-minded, and disdainful. A rich person without Christ Jesus is controlled by the god of this world.
Therefore, we Christians are commanded by Christ Jesus to preach the gospel to every creature, the rich included. God and mammon cannot be served together.
There are genuinely saved rich people in the Bible (Luke 19:1-9 / Acts 10:1-3 / 16:14 / 17:6).

HOW TO REACH THE RICH
(Proverbs 29:18)

There are several methods to fulfilling this task of reaching the rich:

Friendship Evangelism

Cultivate their friendship. Be warm and cordial to them.
Give them a helping hand when they are in need.
Do visit them in the time of their affliction and pray for them.
Do not befriend a rich person with ulterior motives.

Do not befriend them based on your vicious, secret agendas.
Do not befriend the rich just to get offering, financial support or recognition.
Do not befriend because you need help, job, business, free food or food fellowship.

We Can Reach The Rich Through Christian Literature.
Since many of the super-rich live behind fortified fortresses or “shells” in the name of security which makes their homes almost inaccessible, we can use Christian literature, tracts, books, and magazines to reach out to them.

Business Men And Women Fellowships.
A day programme backed up with prayers and power packed messages can help to reach the businesspeople.

Tea Parties
These can be held in the homes of rich believers that are on the same social level with the unbelieving rich. Some homes are conducive for the rich unbeliever to attend and accept such an invitation.

Correspondences
Christian leaders can write official letters to colleagues by inviting them for meetings on similar subjects of profession and bring in the gospel too.

Musical Concerts
The music ministry cannot be undermined in giving the gospel message to unbelievers.
The rich love luxurious lives and one such way of relaxing taunt nerves is through music.
