SECRETS OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH (CONT’D)

THE HIGHWAY TO SPIRITUAL PROGRESS

(Hebrews 5:11-14)
11 Of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

When we talk about growth and progress in the spirit, it is far from physical growth or progress.
There are many agents that are hurtful or destructive to spiritual growth, still many people count spiritual growth as:

The number of years they have spent in the church.
The number of certificates they possess, the wealth, power or position they are in.
Their popularity in church activities.
Their ability to preach.

Their ability to wear the tag and toga of ‘pastor’ or ‘man of God’ or ‘woman of God’.
Their ability to speak in tongues or prophecy.
Their ability to shout the loudest in prayer and pray for 12 hours non-stop.
Their ability to fast for 70 days.

Their ability to look holy, reverent and sanctimonious.
Their ability to get a seminary certificate.
Their ability to wear some special ceremonial apparel.
Their ability to have status or office.

Their ability to have successes in the ministry.
Their ability to attract large crowd of followers.
The number of mission trips they have gone.
