Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

LOVE, THE GREATEST WEAPON (CONT’D)

PORTRAIT AND PRE-REQUISITES OF LOVE
(Matthew 5:43-47 / 10:41-42 / 25:35-40 / John 13:35 / 21:15-17 / Romans 12:9 / 13:8-10 / 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 / Galatians 6:9-10 / 1 John 3:12-19 / 4:7-8, 16-21 / Romans 5:1-2, 5 / Deuteronomy 30:6)

Biblical love gives and reaches out. It is active and not passive.
God’s love is forgiving (Romans 12:9-21). It is kind and tender hearted (Ephesians 4:32).
It is pure, peaceful, gentle, patient and easy to be entreated.
God’s love is without partiality, full of mercy and good fruits (James 3:17).

Love is not critical but understanding and appreciating.
Love blesses where hatred curses (Romans 12:14, 20).
Love does not hurt or injure but it is caring, comforting, encouraging and it esteems others higher.
Christ-like love is not automatic.

PRE-REQUISITES OF LOVE

New life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17 / Romans 5:1-2 / 8:5-8 / 1 John 4:7-8, 16)

Since God is love and love emanates from Him, the natural man cannot love in God’s way.
As we give our lives to the Lord in genuine repentance (get born again) then God begins to impart His very nature into us.
We in turn will have the grace to shed abroad this love to those around us.

Circumcision of heart and purity of life (Deuteronomy 30:6 / 1 Timothy 1:5 / 1 Peter 1:22-23)

Our love for God and man deepens as our hearts are circumcised and we live pure lives.
The love of God fills us in greater measures and flows to others through us.
This love cannot be hindered or quenched by circumstances irrespective of the person we are to love.

Walking in the Spirit (Romans 8:5-8 / Galatians 5:16, 22)

The carnal mind cannot fully comprehend the love of God and consequently cannot love in a biblical manner.
It is therefore imperative to walk in the Spirit and in the newness of life which we have received.

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
