WOW-11 SEPTEMBER 2024: THE NEED OF THE HOUR
Senior Pastor Daniel O. C. | Sep 11, 2024

Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!
THE NEED OF THE HOUR
Prayer is the spirit speaking truth to truth.
A prayer, in its simplest definitions is “a wish turned heavenward”.
Do not pray for easy lives, pray to be strong people.
Prayer is not conquering God’s reluctance, but taking hold of God’s willingness.
What is the need of this hour? What is the need of this time and moment that we live in?
Many of us do not know the real need of this hour; neither do we understand the urgency of the hour nor what to do.
The real need of this hour is intercession.
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY INTERCESSION? Ezekiel 22:30 / Ephesians 6:18 / Ecclesiastes 7:27-28
To intercede means to stand in between two people for the purpose of settling their disputes.
To intercede also means to plead on someone’s behalf in order to obtain something for the person.
Therefore, intercession simply means the art of praying for others, pleading to God on men’s behalf.
To be an intercessor is one of life’s highest and noblest calling.
Intercession is a weapon used by mighty men and women of God to avert God’s judgement.
Intercession changes the course of nature; it turns men’s heart to God, to righteousness as well as bringing God’s blessings upon humanity.
1. REASONS FOR INTERCESSION
(Ezekiel 3:18-27 / Genesis 18:23-33 / Exodus 32:11-14 / Esther 4:15-17 / Lamentations 2:18-19 / 5:1-22 / Romans 9:1-3)
The human soul is the battleground of conflict between God and the devil.
Man in his natural state is blind, dead and completely ignorant of what lies ahead of him.
Except we intercede, we cannot prevail over the souls of men and change the course of their destinies.
The time is short but we make it shorter by wasting it. Remember, there is only one step between death and us.
The opportunity of rescuing the perishing will soon draw to a close, therefore, we need to intercede.
We must intercede for:
The salvation of souls (Acts 2:37-41 / 16:16-18, 25-33)
More labourers and effectiveness in God’s work (Mark 9:38 / Ephesians 6:19)
Restoration of backsliders (Luke 22:31-32, 54-62)
Peace in our nation so that the work of God will not be hindered (Jeremiah 29:7)
Those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Revival of God’s work and His people (Acts 4:31-37 / Ezra 10:1-8 / Habakkuk 3:2)
Purity of individual lives and that of the church (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 / Colossians 4:12 / 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3, 6-10)
Preservation from evil and destruction (Esther 4:15-17 / 7:7-10 / 8:15-17)
Great and high spiritual attainment (Ephesians 3:14-21)
To be continued
Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
