Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

OBEYING GOD AT ALL COST
God does not call us to be successful only but to be obedient unto Him.
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to heed than the fat of rams.
Faith makes a man a Christian.
His life proves he is a Christian. Trials confirm him as a Christian.
Death crowns him as a Christian.

COLOSSIANS 1:28-29

Going round the churches in our nation, perhaps it will be difficult to hear a message on holiness, purity or heaven.
The reason is because this kind of message does not appeal to this generation.
The message of holiness, purity and heaven is not relevant to those who are backsliding or perishing because their eyes have been darkened by the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). What seems to be dominating the pulpit messages today is the new fags of prosperity, success driven and progress achieving messages. This reveals how much the church of Jesus Christ has been deceived and sunken to the mundane things of the world.

In the Christian circle today, we have many people who call themselves servants of God but are not. Some have lost the constant personal touch and encounter with God, still they carry their badges as pastors, teachers, evangelists, apostles and prophets. Some ministers are following the popular preaching of the popular preachers, thereby forgetting the pure gospel of Jesus Christ.

THE LEARNING OF OBEDIENCE (Acts 8:4-8)

When Philip was in Samaria, he had a very successful deliverance and healing ministry, but beyond the glamour of his successful ministry, he remained humble and in contact with God. Philip was not carried away by the wind of success and glamour. Rather, his ultimate desire was to obey God, hear His instructions to him and to do the ultimate will of the Lord at all times.

Philip the evangelist was always ready to obey the absolute will of God.
His desire was to move to a new level of God’s divine call as revealed.
Our problem today is that we are always holding on to that which works for today but excluding that which God wants us to graduate to.

ACTS 8:26-40
The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip to arise (Acts 8:26-31). Philip’s obedience had to be tested step by step.
This is a lesson for us to learn. Maybe there are some preachers whom the Lord has told to preach on holiness, purity, character building and heaven’s reality. However, these ministers have disobeyed because these messages are not acceptable by the wishy – washy majority of his congregation. Therefore, these ministers avoid such topics (Galatians 1:10).

We must not be afraid to speak as God’s oracles.
The subject of holiness, purity, repentance, character building and heaven’s reality must not scare a true believer off.
So sad that sometimes these topics make even the presumably committed church members to feel uncomfortable because of guilt.

The national church leadership today lacks the disposition of Philip, the evangelist towards God.
We lack the obedience, total commitment and vision of eternal programmes of God.
Holiness, purity, obedience and heaven’s reality are no more emphasized in our churches today because both leaders and members do not see the need for them at all. We are only enjoying the fruits of the prosperity of the land but forget that it was the fruit of the ground of the land offered to God by Cain that revealed his true self.

To be continued.
Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
