“KEEP YOURSELF FROM DEFILEMENT!”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“So, flee the passions of youth; and, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love and peace. But stay away from stupid and ignorant controversies — you know that they lead to fights”
( 2 Timothy 2:22-23)
Run as fast as you can from all the ambitions and lusts of youth; and chase after all that is pure. Whatever builds up your faith and deepens your love must become your holy pursuit. And live in peace with all those who worship our Lord Jesus with pure hearts.
Stay away from all the foolish arguments of the immature, for these disputes will only generate more conflict.
KEEP YOURSELF FROM DEFILEMENT
The world around a Christian believer is bugged by sin and the corrupting influences of evil.
The believer often finds himself in constant conflict as he strives to keep his garment of righteousness unsullied from the spate of depraved societal influences.
Against the backdrop of a sin-ridden society, Apostle Paul charged Timothy to be wary of the communicable effects of sin. He said, “Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure” (1 Timothy 5:22).
Timothy was a minister of the gospel, involved with instructing people in the way of the Lord. He was, by implication, prone to diverse temptations. Hence, Paul’s charge was unequivocal, warning Timothy to “keep yourself pure.”
Christian believers today are no less susceptible to the sinful influences of our milieu. The world is bedevilled with all manner of sinister acts and the believer must separate himself from whatever is contrary to the will of God.
A believer must keep himself pure from all that has the appearance of sin. Purity is the very nature of God. He is holy, His heaven is holy, and it is no surprise that He requires holiness from everyone who calls upon His name (1 Peter 1:15-16).
God detests unrighteousness in every form. His countenance changes when sin appears before Him (Habakkuk 1:13).
YOU ARE HIDDEN IN CHRIST JESUS!
Everybody shout, “THANK YOU, JESUS!”
Shalom and good morning.
