“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” (Isaiah 61:1-3).
Beloved Brethren,
Always remember Isaiah 61:1-3 to counter pride and arrogance because of your talents or gifting. You are not blessed for you to make a show or parade your talents. You are blessed for the glory of God that the Lord might be glorified. Do not allow pride, arrogance and anger to rob you of the blessing that the Lord has given you. Your God-given skills are not for self-glorification.
I often give this warning: One of the most dangerous ministries one can enter is the ministry of music or worship. The devil himself was in this ministry which later destroyed him. He felt that he had known everything that God knows. He felt that he should be seated in the position of God. He felt that he had to remove God and become the Most High. His pride and arrogance got him to be kicked out of heaven by God Almighty.
Music is good for the soul. It is the soul’s melody. However, do not be deceived by the skills and talents you possess. Go to God in prayer and always seek to glorify God in your service. Our duty as believers is to glorify the name of Jesus and not any other name!
Jesus, we extol your wonderful name!
Be glorified in our lives.
Be glorified in our homes.
Be glorified in our work.
Be glorified in our church.
Be glorified in our relationships.
Be glorified in our discussions.
Be glorified in our ministries.
Be glorified O God in everything that we do.
For thou O Lord are glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders in the midst of your people.
You are the Ancient of days. The soon coming Messiah. Be glorified!
Yours for the kingdom of God,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
