“HEED TO THE CALL OF THE LORD”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“But Kefa and Yochanan answered, ‘You must judge whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God. As for us, we can’t help talking about what we have actually seen and heard’” (Acts 4:19-20).
But Peter and John replied, You can judge for yourselves—is it better to listen to you or to God? It’s impossible for us to stop speaking about all the things we’ve seen and heard!
During the reign of Emperor Constantine in 313 A. D. the church won secular favour.
The line between the church and the state became quite narrow.
The line between the world and the Word of God also became narrow. So also were the lines between the monk and the hood, between the profane and the sacred. Indeed between the servants of God and the lords of men.
The secular power brought corruption into the church (1 Corinthians 5:6). Like a little leaven it began to spread until the whole church was engulfed in its dirty cesspool. Men were no longer being saved because the gospel was no longer being preached in its authenticity.
Mere religion does not save but it deceives.
Like in this our time, “prosperity message and cheap gospel” have been referred as “the relevant message for the relevant time.” People had become poor, blind, naked, wretched and without power.
They laughed when they should have wept. They danced when they should have cried.
They feasted when they should have fasted. They become spiritually lean because they were either spiritually malnourished or totally dead.
This poverty of spirit brought darkness into the souls of men.
Without the Spirit of God which had worked in men to produce the great revivals of the early church, people became powerless and unprofitable. Faith which is the great handle by which the door to life and light is turned was thrown away and lost.
Many people plunged into darkness even as people still do today. Only a new move of the Spirit of God would rescue people from this great fall. Beloved saints of the living God, the “Call of God” is clear to all of us and that is, repent, be refreshed and be restored. (Acts 3:19-21)
May the blessings of the Lord rest upon us even as we heed to this call of God today.
Everybody shout, “THANK YOU, JESUS!”
Shalom and good morning
