“CONDITIONS FOR FRUIT BEARING”

“Blessed is the man who trusts in Adonai; Adonai will be his security. He will be like a tree planted near water; it spreads out its roots by the river; it does not notice when heat comes; and its foliage is luxuriant; it is not anxious in a year of drought………” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Most blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR FRUIT BEARING?
We must be in contact with the Living water. (Psalms 1:3 / Isaiah 55:1-3)
We must be spiritually receptive. (Matthew 13:23)
We must die to old life. (John 12:24-26)
We must accept the chastening and pruning of God. (John 15:2-6)
Fruit is mentioned 8 times in this chapter and a progression is evident.

(vs5 & 8) “much fruit”
We must abide in Christ (John 15:5-8)

CHARACTERISTICS OF UNFRUITFULNESS
Worldliness (Matthew 13:22)
Master’s disappointment (Luke 13:6)
Failure to invest life’s resources (Luke 19:20)
Divine judgement (Matthew 3:10)
End’s in final rejection (Hebrews 6:8)
An unfruitful believer is equal to a false follower and a useless disciple.

CHARACTERISTICS OF SPIRITUAL FRUITS
Produced in all periods of life (Psalms 92:12-14)
Long lasting (Ezekiel 47:12)
Grown only upon good ground (Matthew 13:8-9)
Much (Galatians 5:22-23)
Spiritual fruits have no defects (Ephesians 5:9-10)
Product of heavenly wisdom (James 3:17)
