Dearly Beloved,
Jesus introduced God His Father to us as Our Heavenly Father, ABBA, our DEAR DADDY! And through the parable of the Prodigal son He related the kind of father our Father is in certain characteristics. The most important one is grace and mercy. The father showed mercy, forgiveness and grace to the son who had left home and instead of publicly cutting off all relationship with him, he showered him with kisses, put a ring in his finger and robes upon him and killed a fatted calf and made a great feast for him. The father also showed mercy and grace and humbling himself, left the feast to speak with the angry older son instead of publicly rebuking or slapping him. In both cases neither of the sons deserved the mercy and grace shown to them yet the father willingly showed it to them out of the goodness of his heart.
None of us deserve the mercy, love, forgiveness and grace that our Heavenly Father showers upon us. He does it all out of an endless love for us. With gratefulness in our hearts let us draw near to our heavenly ABBA, our Father. He invites us in 2 Corinthians 6:18, “I will be a father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters.” How can we walk away from such a father who loves us with an everlasting love?
Our God loves us completely with a love that’s beyond our understanding. Our Father is a loving Father, but He is also EL KANNA a jealous God. Therefore the Lord God expects our whole hearted response of love and commitment to Him.* He will not watch us give to another what we ought to give to Him which is our love, affection, heart, worship, honour, majesty, adoration and service. In His righteous zeal He will pursue us until we surrender ourselves to Him. That’s what He did to the Israelites. Again and again they failed the Lord, but He sent them judges and prophets, so they would change their ways. Then He sent His Son Jesus Christ the ultimate sacrifice for us. No one will do that for you and me, so let’s turn and give to the Lord the love, affection, heart, thanks, worship and service and all that’s due to Him. When we truly realise the love of God and become confident in Him, the zeal we have for Him will demonstate in many acts of love, worship, service and adoration. In gratitude let us also honour Him by being obedient to Him in telling others about His great love for us.
