THE NEED AND NECESSITY OF GOD’S WISDOM IN COUNSELLING

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

“The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom! And along with all your getting, get insight!” (Proverbs 4:7)

The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom, skillful and godly Wisdom! For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing. And with all you have gotten, get understanding, discernment, comprehension and interpretation.

THE NEED AND NECESSITY OF GOD’S WISDOM IN COUNSELLING

The above passage of the Scripture tells us of the importance of wisdom in everything that is to be done, including counselling. Wisdom is necessary: –
….because of the complicated nature of the people we deal with.

…..because of the intricate nature of counselling cases that one comes in contact.
….because many counselling cases are traps set to catch or find fault with the pastor.

…..because some counselling cases have demonic origin. (Matthew 17:14-27)
…..because most of the problems that push people to seek for counselling have direct link to their lives and destiny.

……because spiritual experiences and scriptural knowledge alone may not meet the need of many people who come with complicated cases.

Wisdom of God is needed to apply knowledge and experience appropriately to meet the needs of the people in counselling.

God is the greatest counsellor. He is wonderful in counsel (Isaiah 28:29 / 46:29).
God is great in counsel and mighty in working (Jeremiah 32:19).
Therefore He alone can help us to give wise and appropriate counsel to people in every circumstance and situation.

Without the wisdom of God, we will only be a miserable counsellor (Job 16:2).
Without the wisdom of God, our counselling will complicate people’s problems.
We will become blind guides (Matthew 23:16, 24).

God is not pleased with those who gave or took counsel without seeking His face (Isaiah 30:1).

Who Are The Outstanding Counsellors In The Bible?

Jesus Christ our Lord, Daniel the prophet, Moses, Joseph, Jethro, Elijah.etc
All of them gave wonderful counsels which positively affected the lives of people and nations because they were full of the wisdom of God.

We must therefore seek for and receive the wisdom of God as to be effective in counselling like the men of old.

GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU HEED THE DIVINE INSTRUCTION IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME, AMEN!

Shalom and good morning.
