“PRINCIPLES OF DELEGATION AND SUPERVISION IN THE MINISTRY!”

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

“Adonai said to Moshe, ‘Bring me seventy of the leaders of Isra’el, people you recognize as leaders of the people and officers of theirs. Bring them to the tent of meeting, and have them stand there with you. I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take………’” (Numbers 11:16-17)

The Lord said to Moses, Gather for Me seventy men of the elders of Israel whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting and let them stand there with you.

And I will come down and talk with you there; and I will take of the Spirit which is upon you and will put It upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not have to bear it yourself alone.

PRINCIPLES OF DELEGATION AND SUPERVISION IN THE MINISTRY

• BE CAREFUL OF YOUR THOUGHTS, THEY MAY BREAK INTO WORDS AT ANY TIME.HE WHO TALKS WITHOUT THINKING RUNS MORE RISKS THAN HE WHO THINKS WITHOUT TALKING.
• WORK WITH THE WORKERS, NOT TALKERS.

Under the church setting, the pastor has varied roles, activities, programmes and structures to administer in order to achieve the overall objectives and plans of the church (2 Timothy 4:1-2 / Titus 1:5 / 1 Peter 5:1-4).

What Is Delegation?
Delegation therefore is the art of sharing out and assigning administrative responsibilities by the leader to the subordinates for execution.

Delegation is the art of asking someone else to carry out some roles which a particular leader would have performed by himself.

Delegation also involves asking someone to represent one’s interest. However, delegating functions and responsibilities to subordinates require thorough supervision by the leader for the accomplishment of the desired goal. Supervision therefore is an indispensable aspect of delegation.

What Is Supervision?
Supervision is the act of overseeing, monitoring and controlling delegated function or responsibilities.

Supervision also involves constant checking and assessment of the level of progress made and making corrections and amendments where necessary to ensure that delegated assignments are carried out according to the laid down patterns and standards.

An effective and result-oriented supervision is one that is done regularly and it is done to cover every detail and aspect of the assignment so delegated.

PURPOSE OF DELEGATION AND SUPERVISION IN THE MINISTRY (Romans 12:4-8 / 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 25-30 / Ephesians 4:11-15)

The purpose of delegation and supervision in the ministry cannot be over emphasized. Our common loyalty to God makes it mandatory for every member of the church to contribute his or her own quota for the progress of the work. In  that way nobody will be a waste in the church.

With diversity of gifts and talents, we are to complement the effort of one another. It is therefore the duty of the leader to identify the various gifts and talents. When the talents and gifts are identified, they must be harnessed and harmonized for a fruitful and successful ministry.

The most important quality of one entrusted with position is to remain faithful and trustworthy.

Somebody shout, “SO HELP ME LORD GOD!”

Shalom and good morning.
