“PATTERN OF DELEGATION AND SUPERVISION IN THE MINISTRY!”

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

“Moshe chose competent men from all Isra’el and made them heads over the people, in charge of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. As a general rule, they settled the people’s disputes — the difficult cases they brought to Moshe…..” (Exodus 18:25-26)

Moses chose able men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. And they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but every small matter they decided themselves.

Why Is Delegation And Supervision Necessary?

1. In order to lessen the burden of the pastor. (Exodus 18:21-22)
2.To allow for greater achievement more than what an individual would have done within a time limit.

3. To allow the leader more time to attend to other pressing and weightier commitments.
(Exodus 18:22 / Acts 6:2-4)
4. Through delegation all aspects of the work is attended to. (Ephesians 4:11-15)

5.To allow for the identification and development of younger leaders for the future. (Exodus 18:20)
6. Through delegation, suitable appropriate and capable hands are assigned to the areas they can be most useful in the ministry. (Acts 6:3)

7. To give the pastor an insight to the spiritual state and capabilities of his members. (Exodus 18:21)

PATTERN OF DELEGATION AND SUPERVISION IN THE MINISTRY (Nehemiah 4:16-17 / Luke 10:1-11, 17 / 1 Timothy 3:1-12)

Since only the best and the accomplishment of God’s will alone is required in the church, it is therefore imperative that certain criteria and principle be taken into consideration

The leader must understand what it means to delegate functions.

i)  Integrity of the one to be delegated must not be in doubt.
He must be born again. (Exodus 18:21 / Acts 6:3)
ii)  Ability of the one to be delegated must be established. (Exodus 18:21)

iii)  Select the jobs to be delegated with carefulness.
iv) Pick proper persons for the job or the right person for the right jobs.

v) Prepare by the way of induction and motivate the delegated member for his or her assignment.
vi) Handover the work and ensure that it is fully understood.

vii) Clearly highlight the scope, limit and details of the work not allowing ambiguity.
viii) Encourage independence and free hand operation.

ix) Maintain supervisory control, never relinquishing the reins.
x) Take stocks, assess and analyze reports or feedbacks.
xi) Promptly make corrections, re-organize and adjustment where necessary.

Let us reverently fear the Lord our God and that is to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord our God with all our mind and heart and with our entire being in Jesus ‘ mighty name, Amen!

Shalom and good morning.
