“HOW TO REFLECT THE MIND OF CHRIST”

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

“Then, so far as your former way of life is concerned, you must strip off your old nature, because your old nature is thoroughly rotted by its deceptive desires; and you must let your spirits and minds keep being renewed” (Ephesians 4:22-23)

Strip yourselves of your former nature, put off and discard your old unrenewed self which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude.

HOW TO REFLECT THE MIND OF CHRIST

WE MUST HAVE PURE MOTIVES (2 CORINTHIANS 1:12)
Reflecting to vs 13-20, Paul the apostle changed his travel plans (vss 15-17 / 2:1-4) with respect to Corinth. This very change provided an opportunity for his opponents to accuse him of inconsistency. But Paul’s response was graciously firm to maintain his integrity and sincerity in his conscience, character and conduct.

Unlike his opponents, Paul claimed a transparency and clarity for his message, ministry and methods of management.
This is evident especially in chapters 10-13 of Second Corinthians. Apostle Paul provided us with some valuable guidelines on how we ought to respond to those who have misunderstood us.

WE MUST HAVE RIGHT ATTITUDES
(PHILIPPIANS 2:5 / 4:8)

  • This attitude must reflect every essence of God
  • It must make for itself of no reputation
  • We must take upon ourselves a bond slave to Christ
  • We must humble ourselves.
  • We must become obedient unto death for the course of the gospel.

WE MUST BE OBEDIENT TO THE AUTHORITY (ROMANS 13:1-7)
Christians must be obedient to government because government is an agency ordained by God. (v 1)
Government along with its appointed officials exists to curtail evil in the world. (v 3)
The task of government includes the just punishment of evil men. (v 4)

Christian obligation includes support to the government through tribute or taxation. (vss 6-7)
Subjection to government is required of believers not only to avoid wrath but also for conscience’s sake. (v 5)

SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE
(EPHESIANS 4:14-15 / COLOSSIANS 3:9)
Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices.

WE MUST BE HONEST IN ALL OUR AFFAIRS.
WE MUST WORK AND SERVE IN OUR JOB OR ANY CAPACITY AS IF JESUS IS OUR BOSS RIGHT THERE. (ROMANS 12:9-14)

WE MUST SERVE OTHERS JOYFULLY.
WE MUST ENCOURAGE OTHERS, NOT TO DISCOURAGE THEM (EPHESIANS 5:1-2)
Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as His beloved sons and daughters. And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for He surrendered His life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance.

WE MUST LOVE EVEN WHEN IT HURTS. (1 JOHN 4:7-13)

WE MUST GIVE THANKS TO GOD IN EVERYTHING AND IN EVERY SITUATION. (PHILIPPIANS 4:6 / 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 / DANIEL 6:10)
Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life and it shall be well with you.

God’s peace shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ

Everybody shout, “AMEN HALLELUJAH!”

Shalom and good morning.
