HOW TO BE A SUCCESSFUL FISHERMAN (CONT’D)

When the bible speaks discussion is useless, when the bible is silent, discussion ends.
Either the bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the bible.
There are two parts to the gospel, believing it and behaving it.

Matthew 28:18-20 / Acts 2:41-47 / Philippians 2:19-30 / 2 Timothy 2:2 / Mark 16:20

Every successful and effective evangelism must produce genuinely converted souls who are zealous of God’s work, who are ready to carry on the work of evangelism. God has commissioned us through our Lord Jesus Christ to fulfill His divine will concerning evangelism.

Evangelism involves rescuing the perishing. Providing hope for the hopeless, healing the sick and the diseased.
Deliverance and salvation for sinners who are dead in sins and trespasses, giving joy and peace for the troubled and sorrowful.
The gospel of Jesus Christ gives meaning to life on earth and assurance of eternal life with all other saints in heaven
(Titus 1:1-2 / 3:5-7). All who are truly born again should be enlisted in the army of God (Galatians 1:15-17 / Acts 9:18-22).
They should become fishers of men wherever they are and in whatever they do.

The truth must be remembered that not everyone will have the same calling.
Some will be like Paul the apostle, who would need little or no training, instruction and help from older believers before embarking on ministry (Galatians 1:15-19). Our goal must be to win the unbelievers into the kingdom and establish the saints blameless for Christ’s coming (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20).

THE PATTERN OF MAKING A SUCCESSFUL FISHERMAN
(Matthew 4:18-22 / Mark 2:14 / 3:13-15 / Luke 8:12-16 / 1 Thessalonians 2:1-14)

There are two designs in the Scripture by which people are made for service.
Through a more experienced man of God like Moses and Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, Jesus and the twelve disciples, Paul and Timothy (Deuteronomy 34:9 / 2 Kings 2:11 / Mark 3:13-15 / 2 Timothy 2:1-2).

Direct from God. Those who fall into this category include Moses, David, Elijah, Amos, John the Baptist, Paul the apostle and Jesus Christ.
For us to be successful fishermen we must be prayerful.
We must have clear vision, direction and goals.
Apostle Paul preached and got the people saved before he selected them to be fishermen for the gospel (1 Thess 1:5-6).
The virtues which helped Paul achieve success include his life of self-denial, faithfulness to the Word, humility, gentleness, consecration with endurance, holiness and balanced teaching of the Word.

We must be thorough and painstaking in making successful fishermen out of Christian followers.
We must appreciate the patience required before enduring spiritual values evolve.

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,

Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
