WOW-24 JULY 2024: CONFRONTING SECULARISM WITH THE GOSPEL
Senior Pastor Daniel O. C. | Jul 24, 2024
Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!
If you believe in the gospel of what you like and reject what you do not like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.
You preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips. A true servant of God is someone who helps another succeed.
MARK 16:15 / ROMANS 1:14-16 / 9:19-22 / ACTS 26:1-29
It is crystal clear in the Scriptures what our responsibility here on earth is as born-again believers.
We are instructed to occupy till the Master returns. (Luke 19:13)
We are to continue the Lord’s business which He left for us to continue.
Jesus our Saviour left His glory to identify with humanity and became a sin- offering on Calvary’s cruel cross. (Luke 4:18)
We are responsible for the various environments in which we find ourselves.
We are planted as lights in this perverse generation to shine forth the light of the gospel. (Philipp 2:15 / Matt 5:6)
We are to confront secularism. We are to confront high intellectual exposure with the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christ Jesus and nothing more, the pure gospel of Christ and nothing else.
7 CARDINAL TRUTHS OF THE GOSPEL TO CONFRONT SECULARISM
Let us consider 7 cardinal truths of the gospel which we are called to preach in order to confront secularism.
1. WE MUST EMPHASISE ON THE NEED OF THE GOSPEL
Many secular people, educated and scholars think that they do not need the gospel.
Many of them think that the gospel is only meant for the poor, illiterate, weak, morons and the defeated.
These are the lies and deception of the devil. Every soul and every human needs Jesus for their salvation. Why? Because each of these souls is depraved, ruined, lost, guilty, helpless, hopeless, useless and a hell deserving sinner without Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:10-23)
The unbeliever must be made to see that secularism cannot save him or her from the impending danger of the wrath of God.
The secular person must be made to understand that he or she is:
- A sinner by nature and practice (Romans 3:12 / Psalms 51:5 / Ephesians 2:1-2)
- Alienated from God, enemy of God and guilty before God (Ephesians 4:18 / Romans 3:19 / 5:10)
- Lost in sin and gone astray (Isaiah 53:6 / 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 / Luke 19:10)
- Incapable of pleasing God and also helpless to save himself.
- Deserves only eternal death (Ephesians 2:3 / Romans 6:23 / Revelations 20:11-15)
- We can see literally how Paul the apostle made this clear in his defence before King Agrippa. (Acts 26:17-18)
To be continued.
Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
