THE ODE TO THE WORD OF GOD

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb; sweetness to the soul and health to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24).
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1).
“Is not My word like a fire? Says the Lord. And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29).

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The greatest catalyst of all ages is the sacred and ever living Word of God.
The Word of God is as firm as the throne of the immortal, invisible, everlasting and invincible God. So stands God’s Word unfailing.

Bishop Anderson describes the Word of God as:

The charter of all time liberty.
The forerunner of civilization.
The moulder of institutions and governments.
The secret of national progress.
The guide of history.
The ornament and mainspring of literature.
The friend of science.
The inspiration of philosophies.
The textbook of ethics.
The light of intellect.
The answer to the deepest human heart’s hungerings.
The soul of all strong heart.
The illuminator of darkness.
The foe of superstition.
The enemy of oppression.
The uprooter of sin.
The regulator of all high and worthy standards.
The comfort of sorrow.
The strength of weakness.
The pathway in perplexity.
The escape from temptation.
The steadier in the day of power.
The embodiment of all lofty ideals.
The begetter of life.
The promise of the future.
