SECRETS OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH

The Spirit knows that its growth is the real aim of existence.
Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.
All growth that is not towards God is growing towards decay. You do not grow up; you just keep growing.

1 PETER 2:2 / 2:5 / 2 PETER 3:18 / 2 PETER 1:5-11

Spiritual growth is an essential factor in a believer’s life.
Many Christians have become stunted and many or a lot more have even withdrawn from the Christian journey because of lack of growth.
As parents desire the physical growth of their new born babies, so does God desire the spiritual growth of Christians

We are to grow in righteousness and truthfulness (2 Corinthians 9:10).
We are to grow into Christ (Ephesians 4:15).
We are to grow in love (1 Thessalonians 3:12).
We are to grow unto perfection (Hebrews 6:1).

We are to grow in grace and knowledge (2 Peter 3:18).
We are to grow in the Word of God (1 Peter 2:2).
We are to grow in prayer and faith (1 Thessalonians 1:3).

Every believer should be a living epistle of the Word.
We are to be read by all.
Our very presence should bring such a witness of the spirit that everyone with whom we come in contact will know that we are sent ones, we are lights in the world, a manifestation of Christ and biblical Christians.

1. HINDRANCES TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH
(Hebrews 12:1 / Genesis 19:26 / Matthew 13:58 / 19:22 / Luke 9:59 / 1 Samuel 17:26 / Mark 16:3-4)

A person who is not born cannot be expected to grow either physically or spiritually. Many people talk about spiritual growth without spiritual birth.
It is possible to remain in a church without being born again.
It is possible even to be a church worker and a leader in a church without being born again.
People might see you as a Christian, but heaven does not know you as a Christian.
Such people just remain as hypocrites and stumbling blocks in the church.
They are not growing spiritually and they will not allow others to grow.
They are not moving on with God and will not allow others to move.

Some people in the church have some light but disgracefully remain immature.
From such people, one can see the fruits of instability in faith and inability to receive sound biblical teachings.
Such people are tossed to and fro and are deceived very easily.

Hindrances To Spiritual Growth

Eight hindrances to spiritual growth stand out in the Bible.

Weights of sin (Hebrews 12:1)
Worldly enticement and entanglement (Genesis 19:26)
Unbelief (Matthew 13:58)
Worldly possession (Matthew 19:22)
Family ties (Luke 9:59)
Use of unscriptural method (1 Samuel 17:39)
Imaginary hindrance (Mark 16:2-4)
Discouragement (Nehemiah 4:10)
