WOW-07 AUGUST 2024: CONFRONTING SECULARISM WITH THE GOSPEL (CONT’D)
Senior Pastor Daniel O. C. | Aug 07, 2024
Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!
CONFRONTING SECULARISM WITH THE GOSPEL (CONT’D)
5. REGENERATION BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
(The result of the gospel)
The result of the afforested steps is regeneration (John 3:3), in which the Holy Spirit begins to dwell in us.
The Holy Spirit imparts divine nature to us. (Romans 8:15 / 2 Peter 1:3-4)
He guides us into all truth. (Romana 8:14 / John 16:13)
He empowers us (John 1:12) and manifests His fruit in us. (Galatians 5:22-26)
The believer begins to “do works meet for repentance”.
6. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BELIEVER
(The solemnity of the gospel)
The audience must be made to know all that God has done to bring about the salvation of the sinner (Ezekiel 33:11 / 1 Timothy 2:4-5 / Romans 2:4 / John 3:16 / Ephesians 2:4-7 / Mark 16:15 / Hebrew 1:1). All the hearers of the gospel will be held responsible for their reactions (John 12:47-48).
The intelligent secular people should not be deceived by imagining that they can argue out themselves in the court of heaven, when every man is called upon to “give account to God” (Romans 14:12). We must evoke a response from those who listen to us. He who aims at nothing is sure to achieve nothing.
7. REQUITTAL OF GOD UPON CHRIST REJECTERS
(The penalty of rejecting the gospel) (Deutoronomy 18:19)
We must always remember that as much as there is regard for positive response to the truth, so there is also recompense for rejecting God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
We must make it clear that this retribution is factual as Jesus proclaimed it (Mark 11:19-24 / 12:36-37, 41-42 / Luke 16:19-31 / Mark 9:43-48).
We know that it is eternal and well deserved (Revelations 6:15-17 / Matthew 25:46).
We must spend and be spent in this important Divine Commission of eternal significance.
We must never give up on our audience until they are convinced and respond positively to God’s salvation.
Great shall be our reward like Paul as we witness the eternal rejoicing of converts like Sergius Paulus and Theophilus from the sphere of society.
Our crown will be more than to compensate for our labours. “Those who are wise shall shine
like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness
like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).
Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
