Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

TIME AND LIFE

Life’s road is rough but you can make it. Hold out your hand and God will take it.
Most of our troubles stem from too much time on our hands and not enough on our knees.
Let us be like a timepiece, with a pair of busy hands and an open face, doing God’s work, yet highly regulated.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Every one of us has 1440 minutes every day.
Be you a king, commoner, prince, princess, masters, slaves, employers, employees, young or old, parents and children. It is all the same.
The gift of time is given equally to all on equal basis and measure.
No man has a longer day than another, although he may have a longer life.
The Almighty God, the Giver of gifts gives equally but the users use it differently.
Some researchers have reckoned that the average person who lives to be 75 years would spend his life as follows:

23 years sleeping, 19 years working, 9 years watching television or other amusements, 7½ years in dressing and personal care, 6 years eating, 6 years travelling and only 4½ worshipping and praying.
That means the person will probably sleep away 31% of his time and life.
It also means that he would spend only 0.7 % of all those 75 years of life with God if he truly worshipped God in the right and acceptable way.
Beloved, we have not come to slumber but to stay alert.

  • We have not come to feast but to fish for souls after having met the Lord ourselves.
  • We have not come to junket about but just to be still before God.
  • We have not come to pamper the flesh but to clothe the spirit.
  • We have not come for death but for life, not for earth alone but for heaven. That is why we are here and that is why God has given each of us our times and lives.
  • He expects us to use them to reflect His priority.

God created the whole universe, man, and woman, and put us at the centre of the universe as the crown of His creation saying, “This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise” (Isaiah 43:21).
It should be understood that God’s singular purpose for creating man is that man will be entirely for Him.

Beloved, let us ask ourselves right away: “How much of these are we fulfilling?”
The mundane things of this world that we crave for cannot really fulfil God’s purpose of creation in a man’s life.
If we are already on the path of God’s purpose, many ignorant people will often challenge our dedication and accuse us of thinking too much about God.
They will charge that we are giving too much time to God and focusing far too much attention on spiritual matters. Yet that is the real purpose of God for our creation.
Do not forget the reason why you are created. The reason why you are created is to worship Him, Who alone is worthy. Many people do not understand the purpose of God creating us.

This is because of the corrupt nature of man which is a consequence of the fall of man through disobedience to the Word of God.
When Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden, they lost the vision of the original purpose of creation.
In the fall, both died spiritually, though they were still alive physically. This is the most serious kind of death because it is the eternal separation of man from God, his Maker.

The fall affected the whole of humanity. Ever since, man has produced fallen man and woman in the likeness of Adam and Eve, rather than in righteousness and purity of God.
The corruption that passed on to Adam and Eve through the law of retribution has also passed to all mankind through the law of reproduction.
This is the reason why natural man is unclean, sinful, depraved, and unable to understand spiritual truths. To him spiritual truths are mysteries (1 Corinthians 2:14).
The spiritual things are beyond the comprehension of the natural man, and this is why he is unable to understand the plans and purposes of God.
We have but a short lifetime to do so. Death is certain to come to all. Adam and Eve died. So did Methuselah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, and many others.

Those who became great and established themselves as though they will live and reign here on earth forever have also died.
Therefore, what is your pride O’ mortal man? Proud King Herod died when he thought he had everything tamed right under his imperial control.
Yet he could not control the spirit of death.

In the middle of a public celebration of his might, pomp, and glory, he was cut down and eaten up by worms (Acts 12:20-23).
A very humiliating way for such a man recognised as a king who assumed a God-like personality to come down to the common dust that all men must return to.
There are still many people who talk and act, plan and live as if they will never die but alas! They too will surely die as the night follows the evening every day.
King Solomon came to this conclusion also after a life of pleasure and vanity (Ecclesiastes 12:1-7).

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
