ANOINTED TO SERVE

Service was never intended to replace godly life.

Ephesians 6:6-8
6 Not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

Anointing being the supernatural ability of God enables us to serve God better and fruitfully.
It also helps us to overcome eye service and hypocrisy. The question is, “Why do we tend to please men in our service to the Lord?”

The reason is because:

We want acceptance.
We want recognition.
We want acknowledgement, fame and popularity.
We want the praise of men but not of God.
We are fearful of losing out, fearful of losing favour, fearful of being sacked or dishonoured, fearful of being blacklisted, condemned and disqualified.

QUESTION

Did you come to serve the Lord because of fame, popularity, position, and compliments?
God wants us to know our true selves in order not to be mistaken.
He wants us to have the right attitude in order to offer unto Him our best, precious, and most costly service.

WHEN WE ARE ANOINTED TO SERVE

We will offer a selfless service which is compelled and motivated by love (2 Corinthians 5:14).
We will understand that our position of service is not by merit or educational certificate but by grace alone.
We will recognize that our calling is from God and not man.
We will also acknowledge that our calling is not a right but a privilege from God.
We will realise not to handle our call to service carelessly or corruptly.
