“PRECIOUS JEWELS OF WISDOM (Part 1)”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“I, wisdom follow the course of righteousness along the paths of justice” ( Proverbs 8:20).
Wisdom walks in the way of righteousness, moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation, in the midst of the paths of justice.
PRECIOUS JEWELS OF WISDOM (Part 1)
(AN EXPOSITION OF PROVERBS CHAPTER 30)
(vs 1-3) Who is Agur? The identity of Agur is unknown, but he apparently was one of many sages or wise men well known during the monarchy (1 Kings 4:30-31). Ithiel and Ucal were evidently two of his students or companions or even sons.
(v 4) Agur expresses his feelings of inadequacies as he thinks of the magnificent power and greatness of the Almighty God the Creator of the whole universe.
(a) v5 – This speaks about the flawlessness of God’s word.
(b) v6 – Warn us not to add to the word. God’s word must not be mixed with human ideas and speculation.
( c) vv 7- 9, Talk about neither poverty nor riches.
We should pray to have adequate income to meet personal and family needs, to support God’s work and to give to those in need.
(d) v10 – Speaks about slander
(vs 11-14) Here the word “generation” is used to describe a particular group of mankind having common characteristics. In these verses there are four generations namely:-
One that refuses to honour father and mother.
One that is self- righteous (V12)
One that is proud and arrogant (V13)
One that is cruel and oppressive (v14)
These characteristics are apparent in every generation.
For my mouth shall utter truth, and wrongdoing is detestable and loathsome to my lips. All the words of my mouth are righteous, upright and in right standing with God; there is nothing contrary to truth or crooked in them.
Somebody shout, “PRAISE THE LORD!”
Shalom and good morning.
