A CALL TO STAND IN THE GAP IN INTERCESSION

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

Whether it will be evening, midnight, cockcrow or morning — you don’t want him to come suddenly and find you sleeping! And what I say to you, I say to everyone: stay alert!” (Mark 13:36-37)

Watch, I say lest He come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to everybody: Watch, give strict attention, be cautious, active, and alert.

A CALL TO STAND IN THE GAP

Teach me Lord to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life. In disappointment, in thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity of those I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those of whom I relied on.

Help me Lord to put myself aside, to think of the happiness of others, to hide my pains and heartaches so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes to me. Help me to use it that it may mellow me, not harden or embitter me, that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, kindly sympathetic and helpful.

God’s will is for us to stand in the gap. To stand in the gap is to intercede. Therefore, to intercede is to pray on behalf of somebody else.

What is the prayer of intercession?
Prayer of intercession is a persevering prayer with faith, pleading with God on another person’s behalf.

Intercession prayer is crying out to God Almighty on behalf of those who desperately need God’s divine intervention in their situation.

The Bible is replete with godly men and women who interceded for others. The Bible also recorded the intercession of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Prophet Isaiah declared God’s word concerning the watchmen at the walls of Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6-7).

Jesus’ Intercession:
Jesus our Lord interceded for the lost (Luke 19:10).
Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41-44).
Jesus also prayed for His disciples individually and as a group (Luke 22:32 / John 17:6-26).
Jesus also prayed for His enemies (Luke 23:34).

IT’S A DIVINE PRIVILEGE TO BE AN INTERCESSOR. DON’T QUIT!

Somebody shout, “AMEN HALLELUJAH!

Shalom and good morning.
