PRECIOUS JEWELS OF WISDOM (PART 2)

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

Adonai by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens, by His knowledge the deep springs burst open and the dew condenses from the sky” (Proverbs 3:19-20).

The Lord laid the earth’s foundations with wisdom’s blueprints. By his living-understanding all the universe came into being. By his divine revelation he broke open the hidden fountains of the deep, bringing secret springs to the surface as the mist of the night dripped down from heaven.

PRECIOUS JEWELS OF WISDOM (PART 2)
(Proverbs 30:15-30)
(vs 15-16) The word “leech” though not found elsewhere in the Old Testament is derived from an Arabic root meaning “to adhere”. The leech here is a figure for the greedy and insatiable appetite of human desires.

The “grave”, is never filled with its victims.
The “barren womb”, continually longs for a child. The “earth”, is the thirsty ground is never completely satisfied with water. The “fire”, rages all the more as it is fed.

(vs 18-19) The truth presented in these verses is that all these wonders of nature leave no trace:
The “eagle” soaring through the air leaves no footsteps or footprint in the air. The “serpent” would mark its path in the sand, but on the rock its movements cannot be traced. The way of a “ship” on open sea quickly disappears. The way of a “man with a virgin” is modestly and mysteriously hidden.

(vs21-23) These verses expresses four evils which eat away the roots of a society:
The advancement of a “servant” to a regal position for which he is unprepared or unfitted. (v22) e.g. (1 Kings 16:1-20)
A “fool” in arrogance and selfishness is overbearing (v22) e.g. (1 Samuel 25:2-38)

A “hateful woman” vindictive and ill tempered who pours out her odious behaviour upon her husband and children. (v23)
A “maid servant” who by supplanting her mistress becomes heir to the affections of her mistress’ husband. (v23)

(vs 24-28) The lessons from nature in these verses concern preparations for the future:
The “ant” stores its food. (v25)
The “rock badgers” prepares a home in the rocks for refuge. (v26)
The “locusts” without a monarch go forth in bands with discipline and order. (v27)
The “spider” or “house lizard”, though small and vulnerable, takes hold even in the palaces of kings. (v28)

(v29) Lion that does not turn away from any.
(v31) A greyhound is a dog of an ancient breed used for racing. It stands at 2 ft high, long legs, slender body with a short smooth coat.
(v31) A male goat. A king whose troop stays with him.

Blessings pour over the ones who find wisdom, for they have obtained living-understanding. As wisdom increases, a great treasure is imparted, greater than many bars of refined gold.

Shalom and good morning.
