Dearly Beloved,

This week we celebrate the 59th birthday of our nation. Birthdays are fun! Birthdays are great celebrations especially for this our beloved nation, Singapore! Birthdays bring wonderful memories of good times of the past and birthdays are also reminders of our beginnings. How the Lord in His mercy and goodness has raised up a fishing village into a great nation to stand on its own! This tiny red dot has captured the attention of the world with its many first standings! How did we do it? Grace, mercy and goodness of the Lord through the prayers of committed men and women and dedication of great men and women who give their best with sacrifice, wisdom and vision.

Have you realized that it is so important to pray for this our nation Singapore? Pray for our Government, our leaders, those in authority, those who protect our borders, the armed forces who protect our land, the navy who protect our seas, the air force who protect our skies, the police who keep order, defence forces, public services, transport services, housing development board, banks, hospitals, offices, schools, universities, colleges, supermarkets and malls, markets etc.

When did you last pray for Singapore? Do you fulfil your responsibilities to this nation? Romans 13:7 reminds us: “Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.” Every day you wake here under her care, and stand and walk in the liberty and freedom of this land and yet you have failed to remember where the liberty, the freedom to move, breathe, live, the benefits you enjoy, your safety and survival comes from.

Our prosperity lies in our prayer for Singapore.
Our peace lies in our prayer for Singapore.
Our protection lies in our prayer for Singapore.
Our freedom lies in our prayer for Singapore.
Our survival lies in our prayer for Singapore.
Our future and the future of our generations lie in our prayer for Singapore.

Remember what the Lord has spoken to us: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Your prayer is vital required, necessary and urgently needed for this our nation Singapore! Will you stand in the gap, cry out to the Lord for this our nation? Your life in every aspect is involved in this nation and it is your responsibility to pray so you can live your life in peace here. 2 Timothy 2:2 tells us to “pray for kings and all in authority.” Romans 13:4, 6 calls those in authority as “God’s ministers” and so we ought to pray for them.

Let us pray for Singapore.
