“For to this you were CALLED, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” – 1 Peter 2:21
Beloved Saints of God,
More than six hundred years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah predicted that Christ’s work of service on the cross would result in His satisfaction at the resurrection:“He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities” – Isaiah 53:11.
What can we learn from Christ’s example? Certainly, we learn that service is not going to be easy. There will be suffering of our souls. Service unto the Lord will not be at our convenience. God will direct us and gives us strength through His enabling grace; then our service will be satisfying. For He will satisfy us with the delight of His Presence and His saving grace. He purifies our heart through our repentance and confession of our sins and unrighteousness. We are also made clean by meditating and applying on God’s Word and giving us hope, courage and determination.
Jesus declares that greatness in His sight will come only through service unto Him in Matthew 20:26-28, “…But whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
God’s desire is for us to be conformed to the image of Jesus. If we want to identify with Jesus, we must also identify with Him in His humility and obedience to His Father’s will (Philippians 2:8).
God wants our obedience, rather than our excuses and our attempts to bargain with Him. Everything we do must be moltivated by a heart to serve and in doing so we become His hands extending to those in need. God’s Word promises that He does not change His mind concerning His call: “For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable” – Romans 11:29.
ARE YOU ATTENTIVE TO THE CALL OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE? DO YOU PRAY FOR REVIVAL TO COME TO DLCC BECAUSE WE DESPERATELY NEED A FRESH TOUCH FROM GOD TO MOVE FORWARD WITH HIM?
Shalom in Jesus’ love!
