Dearly Beloved,
Dead things do not grow except by divine intervention. When God asked Ezekiel if the dead bones would live, he replied that only the Lord knows. Just as Aaron’s rod budded through divine power among all other rods, (Numbers 17:8), we too will rise up spiritually through God’s intervention.
A natural person or a Christian whose spiritual life has become a wilderness experience needs the breath from God to remain spiritually alive and vibrant. Spiritual freshness comes only through the quickening power of the Holy Spirit. An unbeliever, who is dry and consequently dead cannot have fellowship with the Living God (Amos 3:3) neither can he be fresh. Spiritual freshness comes upon a believer and it is maintained through constant communion with God. Only those who do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly nor stand in the way of sinners, neither sit with scorners of God’s Word are like trees planted by the rivers of water. Such are Christians whose life’s experiences are evergreen. They bear the fruits of Christian virtues in their season and are certain that whatsoever they do, spiritually and physically, will surely prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).
