DO NOT CAST AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE – HEBREWS 10:35

Beloved Saints of God,
In life, we all have opportunities to get upset or offended by things that happen. We must learn how to pass up those moments by refusing to allow offense to negatively affect us. Such an offense could derail us in our walk with God. We must keep our peace and remain clear in our hearts to receive His direction to move forward. If we become offended, that offense would affect us spiritually and prevent us the opportunity to attain our destiny in Christ Jesus.

Maintaining a right heart attitude is vital in the pursuit and fulfillment of God’s call on our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 15:18-20 that what comes out of our hearts will defile us. That is why we are instructed to “keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Jesus said, “…It is impossible that no offenses should come…” (Luke 17:1). As long as we are on earth, we can be sure we will have an opportunity in life to become offended! We can choose to harbor offense in our hearts by being angry, giving place to the devil (see Ephesians 4:26, 27).

We must not allow disappointment and offense to derail us. By God’s grace, do not give room to the offense. Instead, we must maintain a right heart attitude by positioning ourselves to fulfill God’s will for our lives. When we become offended and do not deal with that offense correctly, those negative thoughts often irritate and annoy us until that offense turns into a root of bitterness (Hebrews 12:15). Bitterness is a toxic weed that grows gradually until it finally becomes a growth that defiles not only that person’s life, but also the lives of others with whom he or she comes in contact with.

If you keep your attitude right and your heart free of offense by responding in faith, love and forgiveness – even disaster can be turned into your victory! What looks like a road-block in front of you, can become a stepping stone to help get you where God wants you to be. If you surrender to God and trusting Him in your difficulty, He is in control of your situation. The devil is powerless to stop you in your attitude of faith and patience, provided you will not back down. God’s Word cannot fail! So do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward for God will work on your behalf through your prayer. Open your heart to the work of the Holy Spirit and ask Him to give the help you need to finish the race you are running and keep standing on the WORD! Hallelujah!

Shalom in Jesus’ love,
Pastor Brian Chua
