Dearly beloved,
You are not saved by good works, but you are saved to do good works. Traditional churches are centered only in doing good works whilst omitting the spiritual food whereas Pentecostal churches are absorbed only in giving spiritual food without good works. However, Jesus demonstrated the perfect example by giving physical food as well as spiritual food to the multitudes. Learn from Jesus and be balanced to give both physical and spiritual food. Take it upon yourself to do something that will benefit others for the kingdom of God. Do not do good works by seeking to get something in return. Your good works should not be done only to those who can repay you but especially to those who cannot repay you in any way. Your attitude in doing good works matters. Do not do it with the intention of seeking to gain something from the Lord. Let all your good works be done in sincerity from your heart. A good example is Mordecai who saved the king’s life without looking for any reward in return.
However, God remembered his good works and brought it to the king’s attention at the crucial time. His good works brought about his promotion to be the Prime Minister in Shushan. Every good work that you do is written in the Book of Remembrance. Joseph’s good work with a God-fearing attitude also brought about his promotion to become the Prime Minister in Egypt. From Potiphar’s house to the prison, Joseph did good works. Do good at every opportunity that God brings across your path. Always remember the good things done for you and not the bad things.
Yours for the kingdom of God,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
