Dearly Beloved in the Lord,
The world is out to attract and take hold of you, wanting to win you to its side, as well as the contents of your wallet. So you see all kinds of advertisements put out to catch your attention. That is what is put out for you! A truth held out so you can believe!
The word “believe” is found 298 times in the whole Bible. In the gospel of John it is found 98 times.
Believe! What do I believe?
Believe! What do I truly believe?
Believe! Who do I believe in?
Believe! How can I believe for great miracles in my life?
The word “ believe ” as defined by the dictionary is:
To accept or regard something as true.
To think that something is true, correct or real.
To have confidence in the truth.
So for us to believe means to regard something as truth, to know it is correct, real and having confidence in the truth. The truth! And John in his gospel has presented Jesus to us as the one we must believe. Jesus is God the one who created us (John 1:1-2). Jesus is the only source of salvation (John 3:16). The only source for us to have eternal life for He alone is the way, the truth and the life. No one can go to the Father except their through Him (John 14:6,7). Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Jesus is the fountain of living waters, the bread of life, the door, the true vine, the light, the resurrection and the life, and so much more.
What is your stand about Jesus? What is your relationship with Him? Is Jesus only a name, only a person whose existence you can’t deny but personally who means nothing more to you?
Believe: Jesus!
Believe: There is power in His name!
Believe: When you call upon the Lord Jesus, He hears you!
Believe: The Word of God is true and every word in it is holy!
Believe: Jesus is coming in the clouds one day to bring you back to your true home!
Like Nathanael declare: “You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” (John 1:49).
Like the Samaritan men declare: “…we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world” (John 4:42).
Like Peter declare: “Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (John 6:68-69).
Like Thomas declare: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).
Declare as a commitment or as a re-commitment: “I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that God has raised Him from the dead” (Romans 10:9).
What a waste of life if standing before the Lord He says, “I do not know you!” Time is short. Open your heart to the Lord and believe who Jesus is that you may know Him, be cleansed from your sin and have eternal life! Confess Jesus today and be saved!
In the blessed love of Jesus,
