“LET GOD’S LOVE BE PERFECTED IN US!”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains united with us, and our love for him has been brought to its goal in us.” (1 John 4:12)
No one has ever gazed upon the fullness of God’s splendour. But if we love one another, God makes His permanent home in us, and we make our permanent home in Him, and His love is brought to its full expression in us.
As God’s people, we must hate double-mindedness, doubt, unbelief, indecision and faithlessness, but we must love the word of God, His precept, and law.
The Holy Scriptures make clear the things that we ought to love:
- Our God Almighty (Deuteronomy 6:5, 10:12, 11:1 / Matthew 22:37)
- Our neighbours and strangers (Leviticus 19:18, 34 / Deuteronomy 10:19)
- Salvation (Psalms 40:16, 70:4)
- God’s word and wisdom (Psalms 119:113,119 / Proverbs 4:6)
- Good and mercy (Amos 5:15 / Micah 6:8)
- Truth and peace (Zechariah 8:19 / 2 Thessalonians 2:10)
- Our enemies and also our fellow saints (Matthew 5:44 / John 13:34-35)
- We must love our family (husband, wife, and children) (Titus 2:4 / Ephesians 5:25 / Colossians 3:19)
You may ask, how much or to what extent should we love? The Bible, which is the eternal word of God and the foundation of the faith that we profess, states how we have to love.
- As God’s chosen people: We must love with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Matthew 22:37 / Luke 10:27).
- We must love exceedingly and also lay down our lives for others (Psalm 119:167 / John 15:13).
- We must love without hypocrisy or pretence, and by the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:9 / 2 Corinthians 6:6).
- We must love in sincerity, doing service to one another. (2 Corinthians 8:8 / Galatians 5:13)
- We must love fervently by forbearing one another with a pure heart. (Ephesians 4:2 / 1 Peter 1:22)
- We must love as brethren even when it hurts and love without fear. (Romans 12:9 / 1 Peter 3:8 / 1 John 4:18)
- We must love not in words but in deed. Let us turn our creed into deed. (1 John 3:17-19)
- Love is an activity of behaviour, not just inner feelings or motivation. Our Almighty God exalts Christ-like character more than ministry, faith, or the possession of spiritual gifts.
- God values and emphasizes the Christian character that acts in love, patience, kindness, and selflessness.
- We must hate evil much more than the faith that moves mountains.
- Therefore, let us practise the same kind of love that God has for us through Christ Jesus our Lord.
- LOVE IS THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH WE BUILD OUR LIVES IN CHRIST.
Everybody shout, “AMEN HALLELUJAH!”
Sabbath shalom and good morning.
