MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE SING

Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:

Unless Adonai builds the house, its builders work in vain. Unless Adonai guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain” (Psalm 127:1).

Except the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE SING
The success of every marriage and home life is based on its spiritual foundation.
What place God occupies determines what kind of home you get.

A home founded upon the rock of Christ will stand the shocks, strains and stresses of life. It will endure despite the pressures and storms.

The first pillar that supports a successful marriage and a happy home is love – not a sentimental, superficial kind of love but love that springs forth from a mature, spiritual relationship.

This is best described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.” The love we have here is practical.

The problem with most families is that most couples sentimentalise marriage so much that their expectations become unrealistic, as if they have married an “archangel,” instead of a human being. Common sense is thrown overboard.

Some marriages flounder because of intolerance and the inability to overlook minor offences and mistakes. We must be realistic and sensible in our evaluation of our partner or children.

Honour the sanctity of marriage and keep your vows of purity to one another, for God will judge sexual immorality in any form, whether single or married.

May the Lord our God help us make our marriages sing and our home sweet in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

Shalom and good morning.
