Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

A BELIEVER’S SPIRITUAL GROWTH (CONT’D)

2. MEANING OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH
(Ephesians 2:20-22 / 1 Peter 2:5)
Spiritual growth relates to the development and perfections of believers.
It also includes progression in grace, knowledge, wisdom, virtue and faith.
Such growth is not necessarily determined by years of conversion of the individual or how long you have been a Christian.

Spiritual growth involves:

  • Growing in grace (in all graces) (2 Peter 3:18)
  • Growing in the knowledge of God and Christ.
  • Growing in faith (2 Thessalonians 1:3)
  • Growing in love towards one another (1 Thessalonians 3:2)
  • Growing in spirit and wisdom (Luke 2:52)
  • Growing in spiritual strength (Luke 2:40)
  • Growing in Christian virtues (2 Peter 1:5-7)
  • Growing in understanding of spiritual things (Colossians 1:9)
  • Growing in Christlikeness in all things (Ephesians 4:13, 15-16)

Let us grow up unto Jesus in all things.

3. MEANS OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH
(Philippians 3:13-15 / 2 Peter 1:3-5, 10 / 1 Peter 2:2 / John 15:1-8)
Spiritual growth is possible and attainable by the grace of God if there is desire, determination, dedication and diligence.
God has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness.

  • Constant desire to grow into His fullness (Ephesians 4:13-15)
  • Continue in sound doctrine, fellowship and prayer (Acts 2:41-42 / Hebrews 10:25)
  • Constantly abide in the true vine (John 15:4-8)
  • Continually confess Christ and be committed to evangelism and witnessing (Acts 9:20, 22 / 6:4)
  • Continue in God’s service (1 Corinthians 15:58)
  • Constantly undertake self-examination (2 Corinthians 13:5)
  • Consecrate and walk in the spirit and in obedience to God and His Word (Galatians 5:16-18)

Spiritual growth does not come by accident. If we are lazy and unserious, our desire for spiritual growth cannot be achieved.
We should therefore stir up ourselves and use the available means of growth.

To be continued.
Remain blessed and rapturable,

Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
