“ESSENTIALS FOR FELLOWSHIP”
Saints of God Most High, hear God’s word for you today:
“But the things that used to be advantages for me, I have, because of the Messiah, come to consider a disadvantage” (Philippians 3:7).
Yet all of the accomplishments that I once took credit for, I’ve now forsaken them and I regard it all as nothing compared to the delight of experiencing Jesus Christ as my Lord! When Paul the apostle was converted and received a call to minister, he said the above.
Essentials Of Fellowship
The natural man likes spending all his time in pursuit of personal, social, material or business gains. Whatever tries to come between God and us must be discarded as dung. Whatever decreases our prayer time and our intimate communion with God should be disposed of.
Another area of caution is to keep away from idols, festival of idol worshippers and from things sacrificed to idols (1 Corinthians 10:20-21). Be quick to recognize what is not of God and keep away.
Any peculiar gathering with the label of unrighteousness be it club meeting, a dance party or drinking spree must be avoided (Ephesians 5:11 / 1 Peter 4:3-5).
There is longsuffering in fellowship. At times we unintentionally step on one another’s toes in fellowship.
Therefore, we must forgive and bear with one another’s shortcomings. In fellowship we serve one another without asking for rewards. True fellowship becomes a possibility only when we personally and consciously remove all hindrances to it.
For every unbeliever, there is a wall of partition between him and God. This partition deters the flow of God’s love and peace. When the unbelievers remove the hindrances through repentance and reconciliation, then will the way open for communion, companionship, satisfying and deepening fellowship with God and the brethren.
The desire to fellowship with God and His people remains a natural link and corollary to the new birth experience. Though man fell from grace, God was longing for a continuous fellowship and that is why He sends His only Son to reconcile us to Himself.
To foster and sustain this fellowship therefore, we should be prepared to abide by the doctrines of the Bible. Apostle Luke the beloved physician reported that the disciples continued in doctrine and fellowship (Acts 2:42) The Word of God remains our rallying point and it binds us with a strong cord to God.
Fellowship glorifies God. It makes God happy. God desires and commends it. God brings His blessings upon us when we fellowship in love. Fellowship strengthens and binds the members of the body of Christ together. The joy of the Lord becomes our strength.
Fellowship brings joy to brethren and it also restores backsliders to God.
Fellowship attracts unbelievers to Christ.
When we display our unfeigned love surely they will cherish our company.
Fellowship multiples the grace of God in our lives and great is our reward when we maintain a true fellowship in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
Shalom and good morning.
