WOW-6 March 2024: ADOPTED INTO GOD’S HOUSEHOLD

Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

You are always free to change your mind and choose a different future. The strongest principle of growth lies in human choice. The power of choosing good and evil is within the reach of all.

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Jesus our Lord and Saviour owns us and we are His.
We are his purchased possession (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
We are grafted as a wild olive branch into a tamed olive tree (Romans 11:24).
We have been adopted into the family of God (Romans 8:15 / Ephesians 2:19).
Adoption is good. It gives us inheritance, identity and a sense of belonging.

LISTEN TO THIS GENUINE STORY

There were two kids in a family. One was adopted and the other one was born into the family. The child who was adopted into the family said to the Dad one day, “I wish that I was born into this family.” The Dad took time, sat her on his knee and began to explain to her the differences between being adopted into a family and being born into a family. The Dad said, “Being born into a family you have no choice but when you are adopted by a family, the parents find the child or children of choice. The parents falls in love with the child or children and pick them above others and they become their choice.”

This means that you and I are chosen above others and that makes us special. We also have an inheritance in this family of God. We have the same rights and privileges as the child who was born into this family. This is Israel and the church which is the Body of Christ. We are chosen in Him from before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-6). The word “in” is mentioned 88 times in the Book of Ephesians. God loves us so much that He is in heaven preparing a place for us so that we can be with Him for eternity (John 14:1-3).

BENEFITS OF BEING ADOPTED

There are numerous benefits of being adopted into the household of God:

We have a new name (Christ’s followers).
We are complete in Him lacking nothing.
We are no more ashamed of being called brethren.
We are the redeemed.
We are heaven bound believers.
We are the righteous of God.
We are victorious and triumphant.
We are covered with a glorious and righteous garment.
We are rapture-prone saints.

As adopted children of God, here are God’s Word for us at different occasions:

When discouraged or downcast (Job 22:29)
When afflicted or in captivity (Isaiah 49:25).
When attacked by sickness (Jeremiah 30:17 / Matthew 8:17).
When in need (Psalms 72:12 / 34:10).
When we are barren (Psalms 113:9).
When we are sin-laden (Isaiah 1:18).
When we are successful (Isaiah 60:20).

The Old and New Testament is replete with details of God’s will written in our favour. However, some people only read about them but never possess them. To read what God has written of us, saying what He says of us and possessing what He has for us as we believe, is to live a victorious and a fulfilled life indeed. Beloved, victory, success, prosperity and divine health are our God-given portions.
