WOW-14 February 2024: HOW TO WIN LIKE JESUS

Senior Pastor Daniel O. C. | Feb 14, 2024

YWCA

Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

Christianity does not remove you from the world and its problems.
It makes you fit to live in it triumphantly and usefully.
Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of the pleasure, costs nothing and conveys much.
It pleases him who gives and him who receives and thus like mercy, it is twice blessed.
Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

It was on Calvary’s cross that our Saviour bled and died for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. Jesus cried out and said, “It is finished! The wonderful plan of redemption was accomplished and nothing more was left but for us to be saved and reconciled to God. It is finished, the great redemptive price has been paid and we need not pay anything for God’s favour and forgiveness. Pardon and peace have been given to us free of charge. This is the first step to winning like Jesus our Saviour.

What a winsome neighbour Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God is to mankind.
Jesus gave forgiveness to those who persecuted and crucified Him (Luke 23:34).
He wants us to follow His footsteps (1 Peter 2:20-22).

1. WINNING THROUGH FORGIVENESS

The Holy Bible teaches us:
“Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all our diseases” (Psalms 103:3).
“But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared” (Psalms 130:4).
“If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not” (Matthew 6:14-15).

A) We Are Exhorted And Encouraged To Forgive

“And when you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you, your trespasses.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25-26)
“And if your brother sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you saying ‘I repent’, you shall forgive him” (Luke 17:4).
“And be kind and tender hearted…” (Ephesians 4:32).
“Bearing with one another” (Colossians 3:13).

B) Examples Of Those Who Practiced Forgiveness

Esau forgave Jacob (Genesis 33:4).
Joseph forgave his brothers (Genesis 45:15).
David the king forgave Shimei, the man who insulted David when he ran away from Jerusalem because of Absalom’s conspiracies (2 Samuel 19:23).
King Solomon forgave his brother Adonijah (1 Kings 1:53).
Stephen forgave those who stoned him to death (Acts 7:60).

C) Examples Of Those Forgiven

King David was forgiven (2 Samuel 12:13).
The children of Israel were forgiven by God Almighty (Psalms 78:38).
The people of Israel were forgiven by the Lord (Psalms 85:2).
The paralytic man was forgiven by Jesus our Lord (Mark 2:5).
We have been forgiven of all sins by Jesus Christ our Lord (Colossians 2:13).

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
Senior Pastor
