SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN
Vision:
Our vision anchors upon
1) Luke 2:52 – “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and men.”
2) Philippians 2:5-7 – “ Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness.”
The child in the arms of his father has no interest in greatness, position or power. He is contented, safe and secure. He has no concern for jealousy or strife. His heart is pure, with absolute honesty and sincerity – a great delight to all!
But Satan has come to destroy the innocence of a child through the various forms of media and communication. It is in our hearts to educate, love and set them godly examples so that the children can be guided to the way of God.
A grim reminder is found in Judges 2;10-11: “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals.”
An example is found in David and his son Solomon.
David knew the ways and heart of God. He had an intimate and a covenant relationship with God. Solomon, however, saw the acts of God but never knew God personally. His heart was turned away by his many wives and it led him to Hell.
Children cannot rely on the experiences of their parents to know God. They need to have their own personal experience on the magnitude of God’sgreatness and love in their lives.
In the Sunday School Ministry, we recognize the importance of educating the child through God’s word as found in Deuteronomy 6:7
“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
It is in our hearts that our children will walk in the spirit of excellence, wisdom, understanding and knowledge. They will enjoy the favour of God and man and they will show forth love, obedience and humility – hallmark of the children of DLCC.
