“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma” (Ephesians 5:1-2).
Beloved Brethren,
God revealed His true nature in Jesus Christ and He wants us to follow that revelation. Jesus declared that, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Truth in the scriptural sense means more than the absence of falsehood. It obviously means complete revelation. Jesus, who is the complete revelation of God Almighty, is honest, correct, pure, holy and dependable. Jesus Christ, our Lord, embodies all these qualities as well as others that are beyond the ability of human language to interpret or human mind to comprehend. Jesus manifested His Father’s purity and holiness with all integrity in His walk upon the earth.
Church of the living God, it is our privilege to imitate and follow the same. Jesus is the perfect example. He earned the right to call believers to follow Him. Respect is not demanded. It is earned. Do you earn the respect of people? Apostle Paul possessed integrity and was able to say, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). He declares, “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:15-16). Being obedient to God by imitating His Son produces excellence in our character as His children. Prophet Daniel had an excellent spirit. What about you? Let your life be an example that people will recognise you as a Christian, not by what you profess, but your lifestyle which carries the mark of it.
Yours for the kingdom of God,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
