Dearly Beloved in the Lord,
This is holiday season. The end of the year. We are all so relaxed because we can look forward to so much fun, relaxation, goodies, gifts, many happy, joyful gatherings with family, friends and loved ones around much delicious, enjoyable food, travelling overseas, laughter, more sleep … and the list is endless. Except that we don’t want to fast (definitely not this season of the year we say!) nor go on a “bible reading holiday.” Holidays! We want to consider it as “my time.” I want to do what I want. In all this our “guards” are down. Holidays! No school and we don’t need to work! We are less alert. Holiday! HOLIDAYS! We have been waiting so long. Many months ago we already had been looking forward to this. Our hearts feel so much lighter. But we fail to realise that there is no holiday for the enemy, Satan. He has been on a full time job since the fall of man. Never taken a holiday. While your guard is down and you are on holiday, completely ignorant of him and his evil company, he is fully alert. With a determination that never ends, he is after you, looking for every opportunity to destroy you. He never gives up. The Bible warns us again and again to watch out for him. The Word of God encourages us to put on the armour of God to shield us against the evil plots of the devil for wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places… (Ephesians 6:10-20)
Beloved, if we live a consistent life in the Lord, whether holiday or school or working day, we don’t have to be worried. When we are strong in the spirit, building our inner man, with prayer, reading the word and growing in the Lord, we will be ready everyday. We will be careful to walk in the fear of the Lord and do that which pleases the Lord.
Satan is the accuser of brethren accusing the children of the Lord day and night before God (Revelation 12:10). He is our adversary, shrewd, cunning, subtle and full of wickedness. He is always on the prowl looking to create trouble for you and to trap you. That is why we need to be sober and vigilant, always on the watch out. (1 Peter 5:8)
This holiday season be alert, vigilant, filled with courage, wisdom, pray in tongues and with understanding and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in everything you do.
In the blessed love of Jesus,
Sister Elizabeth Daniel
