“Serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews” (Acts 20:19).
Dear Beloved,
A practical example of service is seen in the life of Apostle Paul. His attitude towards God’s service remains a pattern for all of us in all generations. He served the Lord with humility regardless of the countless trials he went through. The key to spiritual power is humility. Being humble is not wearing a T-shirt to Church. What you wear has nothing to do with humility. Humility comes from within you and is not from outward appearances. It is in the attitude of your heart. Work humbly as if that is your only chance to serve the Lord. Put your heart into the service you are doing. Surely the Lord will reward you (Ephesians 6:6-7 / Colossians 3:23-24).
We are not expected to lord over the people of God but to serve them with humility. When we serve God through serving His people, we do not need their praise but we must give all praise unto God. As we serve, we need not bother if people appreciate us or not but we must make sure that we do our best for God. If we are involved with home fellowship, we must do our best whether or not members appreciate our input. Always recognise that you are not working for men but for God. Therefore, we do not need a “thank you” from the people. If you want to be appreciated for the service you render, you have not yet reached maturity. If you are appreciated, praise the Lord. Even when the devil stirs up opposition against you, stand firm and be blameless. Let every accusation against you be a falsehood. When you are defenceless, God will defend you. In your service, do not look back like Lot’s wife. Continue to press on.
Yours for the kingdom of God,
Dr. Daniel O. C.
