There Is More Than Meets The Eye

The Bible is the believers’ ultimate reference to a Christian life that is pleasing and acceptable to the Living God (see II Timothy 3:16-17). It is God’s inspired Word, and is described as “a two-edged sword piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow …” (see Hebrews 4:12). It is therefore imperative that all Christians must learn to wield the Word knowledgeably because indiscreet or misinterpreted use can be detrimental.

Outwardly, the Bible may appear like any book that sits on the shelf and the many versions are all helpful to us. Yet the truth is there is no absolute repository on earth that can boast total understanding to the deep mysteries of God. The Lord shares and stores them across the span of believers as He wills.

Our esteemed education and academia is no definitive finality, just as the Ethiopian diplomat (see Acts 8:26-40) was a learned educated man whose rank in government would be no less than a present-day Finance Minister or Central Bank Governor, struggled – despite being a worshipper of Jehovah God – to grasp the deep mysteries in the passage of Scripture he was reading. God had to provide enlightenment and revelation through Philip.

Be it known that alternative resources available to us are not intended to replace the Bible in our lives, but are necessary to help us reap the Kingdom benefits from God’s deep mysteries.
