YWCA

Calvary greetings to you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen!

JOIN US AS WE DECLARE WAR IN THE HEAVENLIES THROUGH 40 DAYS OF FASTING AND PRAYERS BEGINNING APRIL 1ST TO MAY 10TH 2024

Fear is unbelief parading in disguise.
It is the fear of God that will deliver us from the fear of man.
To reap the miracles from fasting and prayer, sow bountifully into fasting and prayer habits.
He who skimps on the seed of fasting and prayer will raise a poor harvest of Christian life.

I quote John Chrysostom, “Fasting is a medicine”.
Fasting is the act of humbling our souls before God.
It is denying ourselves in the body and getting involved with the things of God spiritually.

(Matthew 6:16-18)
Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance.
For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

  • We do not fast to impress people but to impact and invoke godly action against Satan and his agents.
  • We fast to bring about a change in the spiritual climate where we belong.
  • We fast to bring about spiritual renewal, transformation, godliness, holy character and revival.
  • We fast to strengthen our resolve and spiritual authority over the devil.
  • We fast to consolidate our spiritual link with our heavenly Father.
  • We fast to enforce the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over all our circumstances, situations and life affairs.

Beloved saints, all our lives we have been eating at least three times or three meals daily.
Now is a time to fast in order to strengthen our spiritual resolve.
Let us fast and let our lives be blessed.
Let us fast and let people around us be blessed too.
Remember that fasting does not mean getting too busy without finding time to eat.
Fasting is not dieting and must not be mistaken as starvation.

WHEN TO FAST?

When serious spiritual decision needs to be made (Acts 13:1-3).
When one is worried, anxious, uneasy and fearful (Daniel 6:18).
When one is in desperate need (Ezra 8:21-23).
When one is in trouble, distress, pain and sorrow (Acts 27:9, 33). Apostle Paul and team.

When there is spiritual conflict, opposition, antagonism, friction and hostility (Matthew 4:1-11).
When one is facing or in danger, peril, jeopardy, risk, menace and pitfall (Esther 4:15-17).
When one is under judgement (1 Kings 21:27-29).
When one is under chastening, correction and discipline (2 Samuel 12:16-23).

FASTING AND THE LAW

You may ask, “Was not fasting abolished with the Law of Moses?”
No! Never, because the apostles knew very well that the law had been abolished due to grace, they also fasted.
Apostle Paul fasted often and also taught the believers to fast too (2 Corinthians 6:5 / 11:27 / 1 Corinthians 7:5).
Fasting is not part of the Law of Moses.

To be continued.

Remain blessed and rapturable,
Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,

Dr. Daniel O. C.
Senior Pastor
