Part 1
In His message to the church of Ephesians in Revelation 2: 1- 5, the risen and glorified Christ Jesus, Who watches every action and service, and Who knows the motives behind what we do, said, “I have something against you.” Isn’t it strange to note that all the good qualities of the church of Ephesians put together were not satisfactory to the Lord without love? The Lord Who called the church of Ephesians to active love is by extension calling us back to love in action in this generation. Remember that the lack of love in a church cancels all effectiveness, glory and majesty of all the other good things in the church. The lack of love in our lives will render all other qualities in us useless and unacceptable to the Almighty God.

Love must be the hallmark of our church life and ministry. It is the hub around which everything in the church revolves. The love of God we are to reflect is the love that lays down its life for others, the love that is grateful for the best in others, the love that seeks the welfare of others, the love that bears the burden of others and the love that deals honestly with others.

Part 2
This teaching deals with the service of love. The central thing in our service is love. Service without love will not be acceptable to God. We are to have love for the people we serve. It’s only through love that we are able to serve people better. We are to go beyond duty, beyond the sense of duty and begin to serve in love.

This teaching also covers the sacrifice of love. Learn from the example of Jesus Who loved the disciples to the very end despite the weaknesses He saw in them. He reaches out to us despite the faults He sees in us. We are to love despite the shortcomings we see in others. We are to reach out to all and not show any favoritism. Learn from the example of Moses who interceded for the people and committed himself to securing mercy on their behalf despite their wickedness and ingratitude. We are to love those who reject us, those who have done us evil.
