Part 1
Do you find yourself in spiritual slumber, lying dormant and caged up by Satan? The command of the Lord to you today is to awake, arise and come to the Lord for total renewal. You are to awake from your sleeping position, from your compromises, from being just a church goer, from all the things that hold you in bondage. Do not remain in your inactive and dormant state. There is a race of faith to run. So arise and move on.

Have you lost the fire that used to burn in your life? Is lukewarmness setting in? Has your zeal for God’s work waned? Is the fervency and power as of old all gone? Is the consecration and commitment of yesteryears no more and it appears like you are in the valley of dry bones? The Lord’s command to you is to awake and arise in His strength and power to deter Satan and his onslaught. The Lord Who caused the dry bones to come to life in times of old is able to bring you back to where you used to be. He can bring you back to your first love, to serve Him with the same zeal, same power and fire of the Holy Ghost.

A spiritually asleep and dead person is insensitive to what goes on around him. He does not know when danger is near. He does not sense it when the adversary of his soul is close by. He is not able to see the light of the Gospel even though the light is shining around him revealing glorious things of eternity. He cannot see the beauty and excellency of Christ. He cannot see the glory of Christian living and the victory in Christ Jesus. He does not see realities and always fantasizes deception.

To you who are spiritually asleep and dead, the clarion call of the Lord is to awake, arise for total renewal. Do not be passive. Do not be deceived. Run to Him for total restoration. Cast off all works of darkness. Walk not in revelry and drunkenness. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh.

Part 2
Do you find yourself fast asleep in a ship that leads to destruction like Jonah? The storm of judgment was all around Jonah yet he was fast asleep. Shameful and terrifying death was near but he was unconscious. Danger was looming but he did not know. Are you fast asleep so that you do not know that danger is coming, you do not hear the sound of judgment, and you cannot understand the plans and purposes of God?

Are you a spiritually dead person swimming in the ocean of sin not understanding the gravity of God’s wrath, like the people in Sodom and Gomorrah? Fire and brimstone were about to befall the cities but they were ignorant. They rejected God’s preachers. They didn’t know destruction was close. They believed fantasies and failed to see realities. Or are you amongst those who looked back and perished like Lot’s wife though you have been warned to repent so that you will not perish with the ungodly? Do you long to go back to Egypt though you have come out of Egypt?

Are you like Samson who did not know when the Spirit of God had left him? Samson was fast asleep when his hair was shaven. He got up as before to fight the Philistines but the power was not there. He didn’t know the power of God had left him. Is the Spirit of God still operating in your life today? Do you still have the fire of God burning in your life today? Or do you find yourself under spiritual anaesthesia like Samson so that you are no longer sensitive to what God is saying, and to the environment of the Holy Spirit?

Today God is calling you to arise from your spiritual slumber. Do not allow Satan to put you where you are not supposed to be. Come out of your deplorable spiritual condition. Do not wander from the truth and sit in the congregation of the dead. Arise like the prodigal son and run back to God. Be in the congregation of the living and see the glory of the Lord in the land of the living.
